Committees
In compliance with Article 10 of the EGTC Statute, the Standing Committees are "technical working bodies appointed by the Assembly upon proposal of the Director. They are composed by experts in the fields for which they are determined."
According to the Statute there were originally two EGTC committees: for transportation and energy. After the first meeting of the Assembly and according to the rights granted by Article 8, the Assembly decided to add the committees for health, culture and education, town planning and sport.
The selected fields are considered of utmost strategic importance for EGTC activities, as they represent an opportunity to strengthen economic and social cohesion of the cross-border area.
The Standing Committees play an essential role in creating content for the activities pursued by EGTC. Their task is to draw up concrete proposals for the benefit of the territory in the selected fields, both by applying to EU tenders or by including the proposals in the 2014-2020 operational programs.
According to the specific needs of each field, it has been established that specialized experts will carry out the committees' work, which will be then evaluated and approved by the Assembly.
The committees' members do not receive any remuneration or reimbursement.
